Year in Review

 This is me:

I'm quite a loser.

So, 2012 blew by. Am I right? Or am I right?

Here are some photos of my year, because I know that you're really interested in that.

(and if you're not, too bad.)

I moved...and really did myself a favor while packing. FYI Labeling every box "Abby Randoms" helps no one.
I saw Bruce Springsteen. In New Jersey, because I'm hardcore.
I voted.
Hung out with friends.
Started a new hobby: infusing liquor. YUM DELISH.
I started a new position at Fishs Eddy! I'm now the Press, Registry and Social Media Assistant. (I also met Deb Perelman, SUCH a lovely woman!)
I survived Hurricane Sandy.
I baked. A LOT.
I celebrated Christmas in Park Slope with....
...Libby! Who came to visit and buy gifts for the 'rentals.
Family at Christmas

It was QUITE the year....
but I'm excited to see what 2013 will bring

New Year, New Resolutions

Gutentaug my dahling Interwebz! Happy (belated by about a week) New Year!

I've been neglecting you again, and for that, I do apologize. My life has been work, sleep, (maybe) eat, rinse, wash, repeat for the past 4-ish months or so. I did laundry last night for the first time in..oh...an embarrassing amount of time that I won't tell you because, well, it's disgusting. And when washing my dirty laundry, I began thinking about all I've accomplished in the past year and all that I hope to accomplish this upcoming year to make it even better than the last. So..I thought I'd share!

Last year, I won a few design awards, graduated from the toughest four years I've experienced, went to Vegas and survived, moved out of my beloved Brooklyn to a new apartment on the Upper East Side, started a twitter (self promo, so sue me), got a new job, made some ridiculously awesome new people, grew out my hair, chopped it all off, started dating again, met a few losers, met a few winners, and did it all with the best group of friends I've ever had by my side ridiculing me for my antics along the way--just the way I like it.

This year I hope to do more of the same with a bit more punch and pizazz added in for good measure. I hope to get a "legit" job--you know, the kind that pays me for designing stuff that I want to be designing (a girl can dream!). I hope to see more of those epic friends who make me laugh so hard. I hope to continue dating the wrong sort of guys so I can meet the right one for me. I hope to laugh at all of my mistakes, there's bound to be a plethora of new ones this year. I hope to work hard and continue to expand my business ventures. I hope to see my family more. I hope to start thinking of myself as my own (gasp) adult person-thingie and to start taking care of business, just like Aretha.

And above all, I hope to finally install that damn hanging lamp in my living room. That's just been pissing me off.

Do you have any hopes for the New Year, Interweb? Lose a few of those Spam-site pounds? Not that you need it, I think you're beautiful just as you are. Minus the pop-ups. Those have to go.

Stalker's Paradise

So, dahling Interwebz, I'm sure you've heard of this new crazy fad that's sweeping the nation called Four Square--right?

Well, recently when I was in Florida, my friend was "checking in" everywhere. While I had my doubts--stalkers would legit go crazypants for this--he assured me that only his friends on Four Square could see where he was checking in. Whatevah, I still was on the look out for any potential stalkers following us from Starbucks to Starbucks...

I recently came across this article from the NY Times about Four Square--chchcheck it out! It seems to be everywhere lately, making me wonder if I'm missing out on something...

The only reason I would start Four Squarin' it up, despite the stalker lovefest it's got going on, is because of its semi-competitive nature. If you visit a place more than anyone, you become THE MAYOR. That sounds pretty legit. My same friend, who walks to work, became the Mayor of the Church of Scientology in Boston just by walking past it almost everyday. {Take that Tom Cruise!} Also, if you go certain places you can unlock badges--my Four Squaring friend, who recently went for a sail, unlocked the "I'm on a Boat" badge. TPain and Andy Samburg mackin' on some mermaids and wearin' flippy floppies? In a badge form? Yes please!

But yeah, I don't have an iPhone, so I probski couldn't do any Squarin' anyway. Even if I didn't think that it was kindof, well, really creepy.

Spring Break: Part I

Today was my first official day of SPRING BREAK, Interwebz! It was filled to the brim take a gander:

-Appointment in Providence
-Fix problem with insurance by going to Moke's office
-Returned some books that Tato had bought
-Ran some errands at the mall
-Eye Doctor's appointment
-Laundromat (oh yeah, I brought home all dirty clothes, like any college student would--and it turns out that our washing machine at home is brizoken--FAILBLOG!)
-CVS run whilst waiting for laundry to launder

.........It's amazing what you can get done if you wake up at 6:30 am.

Cheah. 6-freakin'-thirty. I havn't woken up that early since high school. EPICFAIL.

I also got to have dinner with one of mah BFF-Besties--JoPo at our favorite restaurant, Red Stripe! EPIC-ly LARGE salads & the best fries EVAHHH!

We then and went to see The Last Station--kindof ehh, the acting was really good (and James McAvoy was uuber sexpot) but the story was lacking a bit, which was too bad. It had the makin'z of a good story, but it moved so fast; I couldn't follow. Preet unfortunate.

Tomorrow I'm leaving for California with my family, HUZZAH! I can't wait for the warm & the sunshine!

I'll try and keep you posted, Interwebz, but I'm not going to promise anything...

Facebook Redonkulousnezz

How to trick your friends on Facebook:

Cleaning

Cleaning is fun when your having a margarita and watching epic music videos from the 90's.

EPIC.

The Armory Show

Yesterday my parental-units were in the city with a group of their friends to visit the Armory Show. Lucky for me, I was invited to go with them as a VIP! Very special...didn't have to wait in any lines and I got a free book when I left!

I didn't realize how HUGE it was going to be--galleries from all over the world had booths set up at Piers 92 & 94 off of the West Side Highway. I could have wandered for hours. Beautiful pieces of modern art from all over the world--I don't think I saw one piece that I disliked. AMAZEBALLZ ART!

Next year I will definitely be going again, it's only $10 for students!

(and completely worth it)

Ch-ch-check out The Armory Show's website for more information!

Girl Crush

I have a confession, Interwebz. I have a major girl-crush jonesin' for Zooey Deschanel. I want to be her BFF-Bestie, so bad! Not only is she awesome, but she also is part of musical duo She & Him with M. Ward.

Whenever I listen to She & Him, I feel happy. Happy like riding a vintage bicycle on a warm, sunny day with your best friend and a puppy riding with you. With sunshine and rainbows. Maybe a unicorn thrown in there for good measure.

Yes, Interwebz. That happy.

I can't wait until their second album comes out! Hopefully it's out soon...I need a new good music fix!

5 LOL-tastic Things to Do Whilst on Chat Roulette

So, Interwebz, I have recently discovered Chatroulette, as you may know. My roommates and I now consider ourselves to be pretty awesome at rouletting the chats, if we do say so ourselves...

So, I've decided to put together a list of 5 LOL-tastic things to do whilst on Chat Roulette to make the experience more enjoyable!

1. When speaking with a Canadian, ask "How 'bout those Olympics?!" this will lead into at least a 20 minute discussion on the virtues of Hockey and why it is the best sport on the face of the Earth. Also ask if any of their friends were in the Olympics. True story: one guy repeatedly kept moving his computer so we could watch the game with him. The same guy also had a friend in the Opening Ceremony. EPIC CHATROULETTE!

2. If you can hear music in the background, have a dance party with your new "friends". EPIC CHATROULETTE!

3. Wear crazy glasses/a wig. This will confuse the person speaking with you and give you something to awkwardly talk about for a few minutes. EPIC CHATROULETTE!

4. If any form of "Potential Peen" show up on the screen, yell loudly and then hit next as fast as humanly possible. This will frighten the "Potential Peen" and perhaps make said "Potential Peen" question whether or not Chatroulette was such an amazeballz (no pun intended...oh, no wait, it was) idea after all. EPIC CHATROULETTE!

5. Always have a special friend handy for when conversations need a bit of a pick-me-up. We have a few: a postcard head of Princess Diana (a crowd favorite), a plastic flamingo named Sami, and a bottle of Seltzer water (WEIRD. but many people are too lazy to get up and get something to drink whilst Chatrouletting and by showing them said Seltzer, they will be filled with the pangs of thirst and the guilt of laziness.) EPIC CHATROULETTE!

Mousetrap!

O.M.G. Interwebz. This music video is so unbelievably EPIC that I just sat staring at my computer screen yelling "OMG OMG SO AWESOME! OMG!" much to the...er... enjoyment of two of my roommates sitting in the room.

Don't worry. They have to deal with stuff like this from me all the time...they're used to it (I hope)

WATCH IT.

(now please!)

O.M.G. Snowmageddon

Snowmageddon has struck again.

RIDICULOUS! It's been snowing for the past day and it's not stopping until well into the day tomorrow. DAGGER!

I'm not the only one fearing the cold, nasty snow, Interwebz. Think of the poor weathermen and women! See what happens when they try to brave the snow and ice. FAIL.

'stache-tacular

So before we all scurried off to our respective hometowns for break, my friend Cayla (aka Guy # 1) and I threw a MOOOOOSTACHE birthday party for our friend, Emily!

Everyone was required to wear the 'stache of their choice, and there were many different 'staches to see...I personally think we all look 'stache-tastic in mooostaches!
